The Sapphire Gala brings a new era in philanthropy supported by a passionate and visionary group of people, dedicated to creating change for sick kids and their families. Presented by The Sapphire Committee and Howard Smith Wharves, The Sapphire Gala will be raising funds for the Children’s Hospital Foundation and the paediatric research community.

The Sapphire Gala 2024 will feature a 6pm — 7pm sunset cocktail hour on the lawn with experiential fundraising activities, a premium sit-down dinner hosted by a celebrity MC from 7pm — 11pm as well as live entertainment, auctions and the return of the Sapphire Vault holding exquisite fine jewellery.
Funding LIFE SAVING RESEARCH
Every child deserves every chance to thrive. Yet, too many children still suffer from life-limiting illnesses and injuries. A small but rapidly growing number of new gene and cell therapies are being developed specifically for children, but access to clinical trials of these innovative therapies is limited to centres with specialised facilities and expertise.
In Australia, Queensland is one of the only states that cannot support rapid translation of new therapies and personalised medicine. Simply put, we are being left behind.
The Sapphire Gala will help fund the ACTION Centre to fast-track discoveries for diseases and injuries with limited treatment options or no cure.
Developed by Children’s Health Queensland and supported by the Children’s Hospital Foundation, this Centre will bring expertise and knowledge to the bedside and accelerate the potential of innovative and new therapies for Queensland children. With your generous support, we can start a pipeline of new studies and treatment options for generations to come
Children’s Hospital Foundation
Children’s Hospital Foundation funds cutting-edge equipment, vital research and on the ground support for kids with all illnesses, injuries and conditions, throughout Queensland and northern New South Wales. We identify and action gaps in funding and support right across the kids’ health landscape – the places left lacking but no less deserving. Sometimes these gaps can appear small, filled by acts of kindness or compassion – a helping hand, a knowing smile or a place to play during a hospital stay. Other times they are large, bridged only by championing world-class care and treatment and breakthroughs in research and technology. Regardless of the scale of the task we face, we task ourselves to face it. From the suburbs to the cities, rural, regional and remote, we help all kids, not just some. The many, not the few. The Sapphire Committee
The Sapphire Committee was established in 2022 with the aim to create change; to represent a new era of philanthropy and to create meaningful and lasting change for future generations.
Our goal is to drive support and funding across the kids’ health landscape to create a legacy for our children and our children’s children. We want to empower change through collaboration and build awareness of paediatric health issues within our community and champion the need for philanthropic support.
